Bookas Ballzy Expeditions started in memory of a ‘Huge’ friend and mentor Ben (B Huge) Butler who had a testicle removed due to testicular cancer, and years later passed away from cancer in his lung.
Ben played a major role in my education in the fitness industry, & helped me become a successful Personal Trainer for over 16 years.
The day after Ben passed I booked my first trip to the Himalayas to climb a mountain called Island Peak, and go to Everest base camp. It had been a bucket list dream of mine and his passing at 42 made me realise that sometimes life can be short and it’s important to live your dreams.
I fell in love with the Himalayas, and since the first trip have climbed some of the world’s highest and hardest mountains, including Mt Everest on May 14th 2022.
In 2019 before climbing the world’s 8th highest mountain (Mt Manaslu -8163m) I coined the name Bookas Ballzy Expedition. In memory of Ben I gave balls out to the kids in the remote area of Nepal, as well as raised almost $9000 for the Qld Cancer Council. Since the first Ballzy Expedition, I have now given over $10000 to schools in Nepal to help the Sherpa kids get a better education, as well as pay for them to have hot lunches at school, instead of them walking many kilometers through rugged terrain in freezing conditions, to go home for lunch.
Now I run Ballzy Expeditions so other people can experience the joy of helping others and ticking off their own bucket list dreams.
